NWTRC is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, and managed by a small professional staff. The staff is augmented by over 100 volunteers annually who further support our daily operations.

Julia Bozzo


Julia Bozzo, Founder and Director.  Julia has a BS in Agriculture and Horse Production from Wilmington College and graduate work in Animal Science at New Mexico State University. Julia is a PATH Intl. Certified Instructor, a certified Equine appraiser, has ridden and worked with horses and riders for over 40 years.

Hilary Groh

hilaryzorro Hilary Groh, CTRS, Program Director and Professional Instructor. Hilary began riding when she was 5 years old, and since then has competed on the Hunter/ Jumper circuit, trained sales prospects, and taught lessons in both Western and English. Throughout the years, Hilary has developed a great passion and enthusiasm for teaching and facilitating relationships between horses and riders. This has led her to pursue teaching at the NWTRC. Hilary has a BA in Therapeutic Recreation from Western Washington University; she is a nationally Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and a PATH Intl. Certified Advanced Instructor. 

Pamela Cady

IMAG0780bPamela Cady, Ride & Shine Editor. After a year of volunteering as a horse leader during lessons, Pam took on the Event Coordinator task and created the online newsletter for the Center. She and her husband moved here in 2008, after Pam retired from a federal court in San Diego. She has a B.A. from the Univ. of Denver, spent 11 years in Steamboat Springs, CO (riding her horses, teaching French and English, skiing, camping), and loves being on staff at NWTRC.

Gina Bozzo

ginahenGina Bozzo, Professional Instructor. For the past two years Gina has been living in Hawaii working as a polo groom, trail guide and volunteering with Therapeutic Horsemanship of Hawaii. Now returning to the PNW, Gina has been interning  at NWTRC. Gina has a C2 Pony Club rating, she rallied both Kurt and Kleng before getting her own QH mare, Abby. Gina passed her Registered Instructor Certification in August 2015.

Deanna Bozzo

deannaklengDeanna Bozzo, Professional Instructor. Deanna has grown up with the NorthWest Therapeutic Riding Center. She has been volunteering for years and became a PATH International Certified Instructor in October 2014. Deanna graduated from WWU in 2014 with a BA in Communication Sciences and Disorders. We wish Deanna all the best and thank her for her many years of service to NWTRC as she pursues graduate school in Speech-Language Pathology at WWU.

Kristy & Bailey Torres


Kristy & Bailey Torres, Stable Assistants. Bailey began riding in 2005 with the FACES program. He has shown tremendous progress in his horsemanship and riding skills. In 2014 Bailey, and his mother Kristy, began helping out with the horses, barn and volunteering in lessons several days a week. They both volunteer year-round and are vital to the care of the horses and operation of the program.
